District 9-
I only have good things to say about this film --Please, do yourself a favour and see it.
I saw it Saturday night of opening weekend, then immediately went back Sunday morning for a second view. I have enjoyed it more than any science fiction film I've seen this decade.
Yeah, --I really cannot find much if anything that I even snarked at, even if one sees certain plot elements leading to conclusions. For each telegraphed element, there is a twist or some other bit that just overrode any cynicism I began to manifest.
I cried, I cheered, I 'hmm'd with surprise and appreciation.
And the combat scenes were finally worthy of 21st century film-making technology.
'Brilliant' isn't too strong a word to use, I think.
I still have yet to see it. Everytime I want to go something comes up. And my movie place is 2 minutes away. I think I went to more movies when I had to drive 40 minutes.
That was a hard film to watch. As a man, I only think its okay to cry if your dog dies or your wife leaves you. Having said that, I got choked up a few times. Brilliant movie.
Quite so.

ReplyDeleteIt was amazingly un-Hollywood, even though it hit every single Hollywood cliche. We really enjoyed it.
