My DSL was out after a costly lightning strike-
So, scratch one ACER mini, one Linksys router, and a telephone.
Sorry for being incommunicado, but the circumstances were extenuating.
In a grand moment of dumb, I once cleaned a PC with a static duster. I knew better too, it was just one of those moments where I wasn't thinking about what I was doing and BAM! Time to get a new computer. At least yours was done by God, mine was done by my own idiocy.
Sorry to hear that TS. Several months back I lost an external hard drive to a lightning strike, but have never lost a computer to one. Florida weather for you. (I used to live on the Space Coast for a while.) Wisconsin's weather is very unpredictable, as well, but so far my Macs are holding up. Good luck with the recovery efforts. Sending good ju-ju... :)
Fortunately, I wasn't using the Acer; mom was using it just access AOL Mail; but still...li'l blue went bye-bye.
My computer only suffered a moment where the flat-panel monitor went dark, but that was it. --The thing is that we were both using the same surge protector. I wonder if the outlet in her room is actually properly grounded?
Any time weather looks the least bit bad, I switch to the laptop or to my iPod Touch. Benefits of an all-mobile computer household. The wi-fi router might eat it with a bad strike, but at least the comps will be okay.
Ouch, that really sucks.

Hope you get up and running soon!
Especially in time for Patrick's next B/X game!

That sucks, the same thing happened to me a few years back, my sympathies.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, guys.
