I was just listening again to that album, I told you that night, had been the one in heavy rotation.  I had noticed a sad, surprised, sorrowful look in your eyes, but considering the noise at the Exit, we didn't have a lot of intimacy to discuss things.  It wasn't until an interview (you know the one) in which you explained why that album in particular was ...well, anathema may be too strong a word, but -- so disliked by you...
Anyway, after yet another re-listen, I have to tell you that you are just the most wonderful woman I have ever known, and I want all the world to know that -- hence this very public letter, to you, Midnight.

All my love,

[Life] Moving Day and Uniform Inspection (sortta)

I'm 98% finished with packing, and the handyman driver is due in about an hour and a half.  Move-in prep has been made on the Landlord's side.  It's just a 25 minute ride further away from work than my sister's place.  But, its so close to the subway.  :|

Supervisor informed me that she plans a uniform inspection (me, only, 'cause I'm the one who relieves her shift), and to wear the lady necktie -- but says I, I have no lady necktie, ma'am.  Perhaps she will have one to give me to inspect me in.  Weird.

Okay, Pumpkin, I'm always thinking of you.
Love you to death do us part.

[Art] I'd Love Some

(c) 2023 Kyrinn S. Eis

In my sister's household, Pumpkin is reserved for the Old Gods, and so it wasn't on the seasonal menu.  I love pumpkin pie, with a nice dollop of cream.  I could really go in for a piece right now.  It would make the Season seem legit.  ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽƒ

Defending the Children
(c) 2023 Kyrinn S. Eis  All Rights Reserved

I went off into video-game emulation levels of artwork, and found another lovely style along the way as a side-effect of some choices, but I'm back to this style (for now), as I find it is the sweet-spot, the nexus of the influences I most enjoy in colour paintings.  Tweaks to characters and cultures will be seen, but, for now, this is where I'll be creating.

Love you, Midnight,

[Photo] Naked Truth

There you are
Up so high
You hide yourself
From my sight
Whenever I look up
And see your face
I think back
To when we first met
That night you held on so tight
Didn't lose control
I fell for you
When you didn't lose
Your seat

2). Alone II
3). Alone
4). Ghost
5). Darkside
6). Diamond Heart

[Music][Western] Crystal Gayle, Early Hits

Growing up, the genre explosion was still decades out, and America was still largely ruled by country/Western music.  More than one weekly national TV programme was in this vein, and radio, yes, AM, and then FM, also played this sort of music as pop.

Crystal Gayle, more than any other female artist was the one I thought of if asked back then, likely even into my early teens.  Yes, Joni, and others, but it was Crystal in my circle of knowledge.

Here is a video collection I found on YT after a random suggestion sent me down memory lane.

So, yes, its not all Blackness up in here...

“This is about succession, about noble Houses, about the Republic, and the Empire. My interests lie in the rise of Iceheart, but I am kinfolk to Osteur through Yskiil. I tell you, cousin, -- bind-sister, -- the Empire is secure even beyond these shores, but within lies the very constellation of its doom. What Emrelda has seen, she has shared with me and Portia -- our other cousin, dear sister Syil. The storm will blot the stars from the sky forever, even when thaw comes and the rainbowed bridge be all eyes nightwise see."

Dark Quantum Sister
I saw you again, up there
Half-undressed against
the black sky
Rainbowed clouds swift
to pass by -- your radiance
kissed them and lit them
aflame, like desire
Do you see me
up on the roof
from there your lofty roost?
I've chased you, chaste
You, the girl of my dream
But thirteen, soon forty-three
I could scream, instead I cry
wolf-like into the night
Your lofty roost
you, lovely moon
lovely moon

First and Last month rent paid.  Met the guy with whom I'll be sharing the bathroom; seems nice enough; also seems as though the Landlord realised it was weird otherwise.  I'm feeling more positive about the place this second visit.

Thanks for your concern, Pumpkin.
Love you,

Going today to pay my move-in rent for a basement room with transit by the other renters to access laundry facilities on the other side of my door; I share my bathroom with a man I haven't met and we both have independent access to the basement via a side door.

This is an interesting chapter in my life.

[Fiction] [Excerpt of Book II] [&] [Art] Lush Sister

Out of the pea-green and gold-chased porcelain tub Syil stepped onto the white fur rug.  There was a chill at this  time of year, despite the lake’s steady release of stored starheat.  Morning fog was now a constant.  The braziers of Autumnal coloured coals warmed portions of the tiled room, reflected the radiance, and the towels, rug, and other plush accoutrements made for islands of cozy in an otherwise cold room.  Syil stood, nude, before the full length window which could open to the small balcony if it weren’t so cool outside.  Her pale reflection against the fogged glass made her think of -- her wife, her Love...  Yet, despite this, Syil looked out through a swiped spot dappled in beads of water, at Bluewater, lit by Metaluna, now almost in full splendour.  It was cruel; for both of them; how could they survive this separation?

Beautiful Dreamer
(c) 2023 Kyrinn S. Eis

Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful Dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all passed away!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea,
Mermaids are chanting the wild Lorelei;
Over the stream let vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.
Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the stream let and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Syil saw each word as an unfolded scene in a larger narrative, like a memory created for conveying a sense or notion without need of its reality -- like Klarissa's fantasy novels played in her mind as she listened to the other's enchanted voice apour.  Tears streamed from her clenched eyes.

In Vino Veritas

Written an actual song (music + lyrics) but I don't think I'll post it in public at present; I'd want to sing it for Midnight, preferably in person.  Its been a long time coming: music since the beginning of June, lyrics a week or two ago.  La-La-La-La...

I'm going bonkers with my AI prompts: I think the quality speaks for itself.  This is super satisfying; like game design, but with immediate feedback.

Hunt for housing is continuing apace; got a few real humdinger responses from some folks supposedly renting-out rooms which seem like scams...

Finished Series 5 of Line of Duty with my sister; we're on to 6 next weekend.  I've seen series 1 seven times, and likely each subsequent series one fewer times, only having seen series 6 once, if memory serves.  It holds up so well, even though the formula or method of delivery begins to show a bit; it is still my favourite cop show, evar, and that is taking into account Waking the Dead, Wire in the Blood, etc.

Auldgory is now officially in fiction.  One of my Red Sister characters has travelled there.  I'm going to call on my old American Lit self-taughts and mom-summaries for inspiration.  Maybe watch Ravenous, again, maybe, TURN, Washington's Spies, again, too...

I will [Art] at you later.

[Excerpt][Fiction][Green Ruins & Shallow Blues][Book II: FRUITFUL]

Daisa in a sportshalter and absorbent loose-fitted pants was drenched in sweat. She brought her right foot up and turned it so that her heel rested above her left knee. Balanced so, Daisa contracted her abdomen and drew in as deep a breath as possible -- presently possible; she was to learn all the 'essential forms' within short order as the foundation of her Moon Maiden training, privately instructed. Anethra pressed on Daisa's belly and the small of her back at once.

"Your diet hasn't been enough; I will have you on Zhomda soon; your body will transform before your eyes, of that, have no doubt."

Spentz would had nodded, but that would had meant she had stopped her exercise. Anethra smiled the half-wicked, half-cronish smile Zere found ugly.

"Why did you leave your goddess' army? ...You may stop now."

Daisa cooled down and found a neutral stance at the bottom of a series of de-escalation forms meant for a half-hour process. Anethra monitored each and smiled, perplexedly, as the other woman performed them to the absolute minimum duration for any efficacy.

"You would make an excellent dancer of the Shindjariis Sect's, Temple of Flesh, ritual. You have it already without having it been taught you. The North-East, you say? Except for your pallor, I could swear you are Khathaqron."

Anethra took Daisa's jaw in her hand, turned her face in it and judged her nose, and then laughed.

"No, I take that back; whatever that nose is, it is not Khathaqron. Something noble, though, old...rare."

She continued her hold, and their eyes met. Daisa looked on with her grey eyes, and Anethra relented and softly released her. The Uldwnyerna stood close enough that her student's body heat warmed the older woman like an oven. Anethra swallowed hard and then stepped away in dance and whirled in great arcs, her legs in long strides bounced in bowed arch, pushed off, up with her heels. She drew-in her arms and began to whirl faster as the circle tightened. Her gold-chased black crop-top and seraglio pants flashed in a marvellous glittering while her red sash belt, normally loose, was flattened against her waist and hips. Daisa knew that the, Dance of Edwn, was her instructor's way to not deal with her desires; she -- Anethra, sought to sublimate her energy into the offering to the male consort of Matride as a tithe or bribe -- something to have the excess reside anywhere but upon her. Daisa watched all this, and knew this, but never once thought to do anything without either permission, or a request from Zha, who loved the Uldwnyerna. Daisa felt nothing at all; as grey and steely as her eyes; she only loved herself, and only when she had mastered her newest challenge. She smiled ever so softly at her instructor's praise, but the Shindjariis Sect wouldn't win this war, nor gain Daisa the invisible crown she sought for herself. Anethra finally stopped, and stepped into folded legs and placid arms of meditative rest even as her chest heaved and her amazing abdomen plunged and bellowed silent huffs through that magnificent nose. Daisa then looked up and out the window at sunset; a sunset meant only for her viewing, for only she could see it at that particular angle, in that exact spot, in that very instant: it was a glory of violet and orange in a space impossible to mix; a furiously beautiful light which almost made her believe in something Greater -- almost.

-- "You are missing a beautiful sunset, Uldwnyerna Anethra Dash."

"Imagine what Matride sees of it from her vantage point."

Spentz smiled, almost snorted a laugh, but that conveyed something far different in Khathaq culture; and Daisa meant the very opposite of that sentiment. The Chief Justice watched as the last rays shone through the swamp trees; she felt ...empty. Daisa looked at Anethra and wondered what she tasted like.
