[Music][Western] Crystal Gayle, Early Hits

Growing up, the genre explosion was still decades out, and America was still largely ruled by country/Western music.  More than one weekly national TV programme was in this vein, and radio, yes, AM, and then FM, also played this sort of music as pop.

Crystal Gayle, more than any other female artist was the one I thought of if asked back then, likely even into my early teens.  Yes, Joni, and others, but it was Crystal in my circle of knowledge.

Here is a video collection I found on YT after a random suggestion sent me down memory lane.

“This is about succession, about noble Houses, about the Republic, and the Empire. My interests lie in the rise of Iceheart, but I am kinfolk to Osteur through Yskiil. I tell you, cousin, -- bind-sister, -- the Empire is secure even beyond these shores, but within lies the very constellation of its doom. What Emrelda has seen, she has shared with me and Portia -- our other cousin, dear sister Syil. The storm will blot the stars from the sky forever, even when thaw comes and the rainbowed bridge be all eyes nightwise see."

[Words]

Dark Quantum Sister
I saw you again, up there
Half-undressed against
the black sky
Rainbowed clouds swift
to pass by -- your radiance
kissed them and lit them
aflame, like desire
Do you see me
up on the roof
from there your lofty roost?
I've chased you, chaste
You, the girl of my dream
But thirteen, soon forty-three
I could scream, instead I cry
wolf-like into the night
Your lofty roost
you, lovely moon
lovely moon
lovely
moon
