Here is a map which swaps world cities of the same latitude onto the North American continent.  Where I lived in then West Germany is best imagined around those locations up in left side High Canadian Wilderness.  We had a Winter which the sun never rose as high as noon, and a Summer where it was light outside at 10 PM.
